Leefield Station is a range of wines that celebrate the history of the iconic sheep and beef station located in the heart of the Waihopai Valley. Purchased in 2013 by Marisco Vineyards, the property inspired us to go back to the beginning with our winemaking approach.

Nice, vibrant ruby red colour. Sweetly scented and classically "Martinborough" with a nice balance of red cherry, pretty florals and savoury, earthy notes. A delicious array of ripe and succulent red berry/cherry flavours and layers. Lovely spice and quite a lot of fruit and oak sweetness on the finish, complimented nicely by silky tannins and delicate acidity. Nice, fresh and youthful Pinot Noir expression. Great drinking now and will cellar nicely for 5 plus years. Food match with braised rabbit pappardelle.

Deep ruby in appearance with aromas of dark fruit, such as blackcurrents, plums and boysenberries. Layered beneath there are also hints of tobacco, liquorice and cloves.

Upon release it is deep ruby in colour. The nose is brimming with vibrant red fruit including plum, raspberry and cherry. There are also hints of spice, vanilla and chocolate, with some underlying savoury notes. The wine is mouth-filling, yet balanced with plush velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and a prolonged finish.

Maison Castel Cabernet Sauvignon is a round, medium-bodied French red wine featuring a shiny purple appearance, black fruit aromas, and a smooth finish. The palate is full-bodied, with supple, enveloping tannins and a long, toasted finish. Best served between 16 and 18°C, it can be enjoyed straight away or cellared for up to five years. A natural match for grilled or roasted meats and matured cheeses.

With its deep, bright ruby colour, Maison Castel Merlot is a smooth, medium-bodied red with an inviting nose of cherry, strawberry and other ripe red fruits, complemented by subtle spice and prune notes. The palate is generous and well-rounded, with silky tannins and a supple, lingering finish with gentle toasted notes. An easy match for barbecued meats, cold cuts and soft cheeses, with its flagship pairing being duck with shallots.

Maison Castel carefully selects parcels from a Terra Vitis-certified partner to capture the grape's generous fruit and aromatic character. Extended maceration builds depth and structure, while 4 to 6 months of oak ageing adds subtle toasted and vanilla notes. Rich, fruity and beautifully rounded, this Syrah pairs well with red meat, spicy dishes, chocolate and especially lamb with rosemary.

A full-bodied red featuring a deep dark crimson hue and a complex, brooding nose of wild berry, blackcurrant, and leather. On the palate, it delivers a rich concentration of flavours, offering a sweet entry of Doris plum and wild berry balanced by savoury, earthy undertones and beautifully soft tannins. This elegant and robust wine pairs exceptionally well with hearty meat dishes, cured cheese platters, or a selection of tapas.

A complex dark and brooding wine with aromas and flavours of black fruits, violets and wild thyme.

Brassknocker by McArthur Ridge is their Village level Pinot Noir, the name is inspired from the unique Brassknocker soils which the McArthur Ridge vineyard are planted in, sited on expansive ancient glacial moraine terraces in Alexandra, Central Otago. Beautiful floral notes, aromatic and complex, showing ripe cherry, oak spice, and mocha notes on the nose. The palate is succulent with rich red berry notes, violets, oregano herbal nuances and fine tannins. The wine is supported by fine acidity and finishes with a long and balanced persistency.

Ruby red in colour, this wine has a bouquet of savoury red berry fruit, black cherry and vanilla that combine with aromas of black forest berries, cloves and dark violets, finishing with soft stony notes. Dry on the palate with a core of fruit, savoury tannins give it a great texture. The oak influence is obvious with baking spices, brown sugar and smokiness. Expect this wine to improve further with careful cellaring over the next 7-10 years.
